Care of Dirndl. Trachten and Lederhosen
How to take care of your Dirndl and Lederhosen:
You have bought a dirndl dress or other trachten clothing? Now what? If you bought in our store - you paid very little in comparison to its real value! To make sure you conserve that value, here is how to care for those items to have them for a long time to come! Dirndl dresses and linen jackets or suit:Our dirndl dresses are made of highest quality cloth: linen, cotton, wool brocade or silk, sometimes blended with a little polyester. Most of the dirndls are fully washable in handwarm water (not hot, because of the colors!), but please don't dry hot, this is not good for the fabric. If you have any chance, dry them hanging, either in your garden (inside out, to prevent UV damage) or over the bath-tub. The brocade and other wool dresses: Dry cleaning recommended. They can be cold washed - but please, don't tumble or dry in the machine - just let them dry laid flat. This will preserve the value and quality of these pieces for years and years - or generations!Loden jackets and suits:Dry cleaning recommended.Special dry cleaning, if necessary, but as you know, lederhosen shouldn't look new - we say used to perfection, a few stains or even a repair on them make the wearer look like a real lederhosen man! You can also just handwash them and dry them laying flat on a towel, that will absorb the moisture. Afterwards they need a good rubbing to get the stiffness out! NEVER apply any kind of heat to the wet lederhosen - the leather will shrink and become brittle! This may change the color and is done at your own risk!!
